How To Re-balance & Brighten Hyper Pigmentation

In order to remedy this problem we must first understand how the skin reacts when exposed to sun light. It is vital for our skin to get exposure to natural sun light, however too much exposure is not good. I recommend getting outside early in the morning or late in the evening, at those times the amount of UVA and UVB rays are less intense. By that I mean the rays are less damaging, and the heat is not as strong. On top of that the Sun’s nutrients (vitamin A and D) are more abundant.

The heat from the Sun’s rays penetrates deep into the dermis layer (top layer of skin). As the heat builds up, it stimulates the skin’s natural protection known as Melanin, to come up to the surface and protect the core cells below. It is the natural reaction to the heat of the sun. Unfortunately over time due to too much sun exposure, some of the melanin is left on the surface and remains as hyper pigmentation, brown spots or melasma. Once the melanin is burnt, it can become lighter in texture in winter months but does not return to its original even color tone.

Guinot’s NEWHITE Skincare Range Brings New Life to Pigmented Skin

Newhite

NEWHITE is a professional treatment program which helps to correct pigmentation disorders, whilst preserving the skins beauty. The NEWHITE program is the only brightening skin care program that can be measured in time for visible results.

Two Key Ingredients Throughout the NEWHITE Range

    • MELANOXYL creates two effects on the melanocytes. It slows UV-induced melanin production and reduces the initial presence of melanin in the skin.

  • VITAMIN C reinforces the lightening and anti-pigmentation action. Through its antioxidant and anti-free radical action it protects the skin and cutaneous tissue. Vitamin C stimulates collagen synthesis thus regenerating the tissue.

The NEWHITE range is comprised of several products, which all work together to even out skin color and bring a healthy even toned completion. Please call us and ask for assistance. Let us help you love your completion again.

Very soon the warm weather will be beating down on us and I feel that after our long, drawn-out, cold winter, many of us will be rushing out to feel the warmth on our sun-deprived skins. Before you venture out, I want to pass on some valuable information to keep you and your skin enjoying the great outdoors without too much concern about the Sun’s rays and their effect on your skin.

For thousands of years, our ancestors knew the beach was a place to rejuvenate, get fresh air, build-up our Vitamin D levels and fill our lungs with fresh air.  The Sun warms our Earth, gives us light, and grows our food. It is extremely powerful in both good and harmful ways. I believe the Sun is a good thing, but just like anything that’s good, too much of it can be a bad thing.

Follow these simple rules for sun exposure to keep yourself protected, safe, and having fun:

Safest times to be in the Sun:

If you are someone who loves feeling the warm rays on your skin, I suggest getting out early in the morning (7am -11am) or late in the evening (2pm-6pm). During these times, the Sun is farthest from your body and the rays are not as strong, meaning less damage can be done.

Application Tip:

I recommend applying two layers of any sun product you’re using. The first you rub into the skin and the 2nd you pat on top of your skin, right over the first layer. Studies show that when you rub a sun product into the skin it penetrates further, leaving the surface layer unprotected.

Use Sun protection that works:

I have previously blogged on Guinot’s Nucleic Defense Sun Protection Range before and how it differs from most other sun protection lines. Nucleic Defense is THE FIRST sunscreen formulated with DNA molecules and sun filters, other sunscreens only have sun filters. The DNA molecules are absorbed by the skin and act like an additional skin barrier to neutralize UV rays. Sunscreens without DNA in them allow the UV rays to penetrate into the skin, where they begin to damage your own skin’s DNA, causing premature aging, dehydration and hyper-pigmentation. I now have clients telling me of their experiences and how Guinot’s sun range has saved their skin from burning and aging.

One of my main objectives for this coming month is to educate as many people as I can on the importance of sun protection, how to use it, what products to use in certain locals, and what products to use for different skin types. Because, just like with with daily skincare, it’s not one-type-fits-all.

That being said, enjoy and relax in these coming months, but put on your sunscreen first!

Danielle’s Skincare Routine

Danielle’s Skincare Routine

Ideal Skin Type: Dry Skin

My name is Danielle, and I wanted to share my daily skincare routine with you. First I’ll give you a little background information about me. I am originally from Maryland, but before moving back, I lived in Florida for 4 years.  During my time there, I did what any Floridian does, I soaked up the Sun, which resulted in many sunburns. I cringe now just thinking about it.  Eventually I wised up about how bad Sun damage was for my skin and quit the long days at the beach and started applying SPF.

I initially was interested in becoming a makeup artist. I was always doing makeup for my friends and family for events or dates. I wanted to become certified and began looking up makeup artist programs. During my search to become certified I started to discover Esthetics and began to develop a strong interest in it.  One thing led to another and I became a licensed Esthetician, and have fallen in love with skincare.

As a person with dry skin, this harsh winter has done a number on it. My skin was not only dry but flakey all over, and was in much need for some nourishment. The cleanser I’m using at the moment is the Lait Hyrda Confort cleansing milk. I absolutely love this cleanser, it takes off all of my makeup, makes my skin actually feel smooth, and did I mention it smells so good. This cleansing milk contains Shea Oil which leaves my skin feel so soft and healthy. It also contains Cornflower extracts, this helps to soothe my skin.

The way I use it is by pumping 2-4 pumps in my hands and work the cleanser around my dry face. I apply the milk to dry skin because it is an emollient, which helps to breakdown any dirt, oil or makeup that I have on my skin. Then I simply rinse the cleansing milk off with warm water and a shammy (a type of washcloth).

After cleansing my face, I apply a moisturizer. The moisturizers I use differs from day to night.  In the morning I use BiOxygene cream. I find that it provides my skin with hydration without being too heavy. I apply BiOxygene just before I put on my makeup.  It’s hydrating enough to give my makeup long staying power, and light enough to keep my makeup from slipping off my face.  Lastly, the smell of this cream is divine, very fresh and clean.
Because my skin has been recovering from the cold, to give it an added boost of nourishment, I have been apply Creme Nutrition Confort after I cleanse my skin at night.  This cream is filled with essential oils, such as, Lavender, Rosemary and Thyme.  These oils help repair and nourish very dry skin. This is a cream that I’m using to treat my dry skin, as the weather warms up and my skin balances out I may replace this moisturizer with BiOxygene, but for the time being this is a necessary product for me.

If anyone has any questions about any of the products I use, or if you are interested in having a skin consultation and facial, just stop by the spa, I’m always happy to meet new people.

Guinot Hydra Bronze

Ideal Skin Type: All Skins

Guest Blogger: Erin Ryan

Growing up, I was a huge sun bather, I just couldn’t get enough!  The darker I got, the more sun I would crave! Summer days were spent laying at the beach or pool for many hours, trying to achieve the perfect bronzed body.   Now that I am educated on what those extended days in the sun actually did to my skin, I’ve looked for other, safer ways to achieve the same summer glow without the risk.  This is why, when Guinot introduced their Lait Hydra Bronze moisturizer, I knew I had to try it!  I have tried so many creams claiming to give a natural looking tan.  I have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to self-tanners.  But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try one more!

15% off Guinot Lait Hydra Bronze May 27th – June 2nd

Guinot’s Hydra Bronze is unlike any other cream I’ve tried before.  It also applies evenly every time, and I have yet to see any streaks or unnatural looking pigments.  The cream itself is white, which means it won’t rub off on your clothes or sheets.  The color develops into a soft brown, so there will be no orange in sight! What really surprised me was that this cream doesn’t just tan your skin, it’s also moisturizing it too!  I was amazed at how hydrated my skin felt after applying the cream.  There wasn’t any need for body lotion!  Also Lait Hydra Bronze was created to be used on both the face and body. The main ingredients in the Lait Hydra Bronze is DHA and Erythrulose, which is what gives the skin a tan pigmentation that intensifies with continued use. It also contains a Hydrocyte Complex.  This is what gives your skin all the hydration it’s going to need.

How To Use For Best Results:

To get the most out of this product, I would recommend exfoliating your skin beforehand.  Removing the dead skin cells on your body will result in a more natural-looking and longer-lasting tan.  Use Lait Hydra Bronze right after getting out of the shower and drying off with a towel. Your skin can soak up all of the hydration that this cream provides. When applying it to your face, blend the cream down your neck and onto your decollete; this will give you a more natural look. This cream can be used several times a week to maintain or increase the desired level of color.  It is important to remember that this cream is not a sun protectant, you will still need to use an SPF if you plan to be out in the sun.

PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: GUINOT NUCLEIC DEFENSE

Featured Product: Guinot Sun Products

Ideal Skin Type: All Skins

The Guinot Control Laboratory in France is one of the most renowned in the cosmetic sector. It has been recognized as a leader amongst skincare research labs, and incorporates the most modern technology into their research. The Guinot Lab is also dedicated to creating and producing products that go above and beyond the normal standards. To that I should note that all Guinot products are formulated without Parabens or GMOs (Genetically Modified Organism).

NucleicDefence
As summer approaches I want to share with you the new technology and effectiveness of the Nucleic Defense Sun Protective Range that Guinot has created. This product range has triple the protection of your standard Sun product. Nucleic Defense is the first sunscreen formulated with DNA molecules and sun filters. DNA molecules absorb and neutralize the UV rays that can modify skin cell DNA. In a nutshell the ultraviolet light from the sun causes damage to the skin cells by actually changing the structure of the DNA in them. Introducing small bits of DNA (thymidine dinucleotide) can boost the cell’s repair pathways so they remove more of the damaged bits of DNA after UV exposure. Sunscreens without DNA in them can leave “windows” on the skin through which certain UV rays can penetrate and modify DNA. Applying DNA to the skin’s surface “fills out” these “windows,” thus protecting the cells’ own DNA.

GuinotDNA

This product line also contains a natural ingredient called, Heliotropine (created by Guinot) which helps the skin tame the negative effects of the Sun. Heliptropine is derived from the Greek words helios (sun) and tropos (affinity). The benefits that this ingredient does for the skin is substantial; I will list a few benefits below.

Skin protection

  • Protects against harmful UV rays
  • Promotes the production of melanin, a natural skin protection from UVrays

Stimulates natural, even tanning process

  • Generates and accelerates melanin synthesis, thereby enhancing a tan.
  • Prevents formation of pigmentation marks
  • Ensures an even distribution of melanin on the skin’s surface

Fights low tolerance to the Sun

  • Comforts skin by strengthening its natural defense
  • Limits erythemia and sun-induced allergies

Basically the DNA in these products will act as a barrier as well as a magnate, by attracting the Sun’s rays, thus protecting and shielding your own DNA. Not only is your DNA kept intact and untouched, but the UV rays are kept from damaging your cells.

In my opinion, this Nucleic Defense Range is one of the most advanced programs for skin protection and has several different products to satisfy all skin types and weather conditions.

At Fountains, we want to make sure you are informed about sun protection and if you have further questions as to which product is right for you and when and how to use please give us a call, or stop by, and we would be happy to assist you.

I wish everyone a warm happy and protected summer.

Ideal Skin Type: Skin exposed to the sun

Guest Blogger: Erin Ryan

It’s that time of year again! With the warm weather on its way, we all tend to spend more time outside and in the sun. The sun has so many great qualities; it produces vitamin D which can do wonders for your mood and energy as well as bone growth. However, along with all of it’s great benefits, it’s also important to remember that the Sun can do some serious damage to our skin.  I would never advise anyone to not enjoy a nice sunny day but it is important to protect your skin, when it’s exposed to the sun.   The sun produces harmful rays, and free radicals that break down the skin’s structural support. With all these sunny days ahead of us, I’ve decided to feature Guinot’s Douceur De Vie face cream as my product for the week.

DouceurDeVie

This should be everyone’s go-to cream for skin defense this spring, and summer. Not only does it contain an SPF 15 to protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays, but it also has Vitamin E, which acts as an anti-free radical and antioxidant. Vitamin E is also great for keeping your skin moisturized. Have sensitive skin? This cream is perfect for sensitive skin types due to its de-stressing essential oils; lemon, chamomile and lavender. These oils will help calm down redness and irritation in the skin. The essential oils are not only beneficial to your skin but they also make for a great smelling cream!  With its light blue color, Douceur De Vie is perfect for apply under makeup to conceal any redness.

Lastly, Douceur De Vie contains Guinot’s Cellular Life Complex. This complex contains 56 active ingredients, that helps rebuild the skin’s ability to regenerate cells, making is a wonderful cream for anti-aging, as well as healing the skin after sunburns or acne scars. This is an excellent addition to any skincare regimen!
