Greetings

Greetings, from all

of us at Fountains,

we miss you.

In this difficult time, as I’m working on a new ever-changing normal, I realize that this would be the time of year that we would receive calls from our clients as to what to do next with their skin, as spring approaches. Before I go into that I want to reiterate that, we may not be open for services at The Fountains, but we are still manning the phones and can certainly help you with your skincare questions or concerns.

I have a couples of rules that I feel should not be ignored in our fight against premature aging:

1) Never forget to wash your face.

I recommend twice a day, although I find that many of my clients prefer only once a day. In that case make it at night time. The reason for this is that is at night while you are at rest, your body is repairing, recharging, and getting ready for the new day. Therefore your clean skin and night cream have the ability to work their magic. If the grime and dirt that your skin attracts during the day is not washed off, your skin will suffer, and aging is accelerated.

2) Never go without protection day cream and/or Night cream.
Each cream has their own function, and as stated they protect the skin from the environment (wind, summer sun, heat, air conditioning and winter). There are so many facial products on the market it cam be so confusing as to what’s right to you. A day cream is generally lighter and hydrates the skins surface, a night cream is generally heavier in texture and works on supporting the elasticity of your skin there fore penetrating deeper.
My recommendation for home care (when having regular facials is not possible)
My most favorite product to exfoliant with is Gommage Biologique. This is a gentle exfoliating gel, which turns into an oil as it lifts the dead cells. It’s easily removed with damp cotton pads, and I strongly suggest following it with a mask. I prefer Masque Essential Nutri Confort. Leave the mask on between 10-20 minutes. This combination will have your skin, looking and feeling radiant.

Wishing you all the best of health and courage to get us through this time.

We miss you all,
Suzanne and Co

GENETICALLY SUPERIOR SEED:

FarmHouse Fresh’s Cannabis Sativa is a proprietary strain, developed with university backing by scientists, geneticists & botanists in the rich soils of Kentucky. High in phytocannabinoids. Low in THC.

THE WHOLE PLANT:

Our oil is Full Spectrum. It has higher nutritional value because we use hemp seed oil, plus vital extracts from all parts of the plant, including Cannabidiol isolated with CO2 extraction, to ensure peak quality and consistency.

ENCAPSULATED FOR ABSORPTION:

Using specialized pharmaceutical technology in our FDA registered lab, our hemp oil undergoes “complexed encapsulation.” In this proprietary process, the molecules are encapsulated by naturally water-soluble outer shells, so our oil absorbs faster than any standard hemp oil available.

Ultra Hydradermie

Treatment Spotlight:

Ultra Hydradermie

Guest Blogger: Bri Anderson

My favorite facial to perform is the Ultra Hydradermie. This is an 80-minute relaxing, pampering treat for your face. It combines the full Hydradermie facial with key aspects of the Aromatic facial. I start off every facial with a consultation with my clients to learn first what results they are looking to achieve, this is followed by cleansing and exfoliating the skin. During exfoliation, I incorporate some lymphatic drainage techniques on the face and décolleté, helping my clients to fully relax.

I then select custom serum gels that are best suited to what my client needs and continue with Galvanic current rollers. The rollers help penetrate the active ingredients of the selected gels into the skin deeper and faster. I follow this up by using an oxygenating emulsion paired with a high-frequency wand. High frequency is known for its antiseptic and healing effect on the skin, as well as its ability to stimulate circulation, oxygenate the skin, and increase cell metabolism.

After all of this is when I introduce an essential oil blend that I carefully selected to benefit my clients’ individual beauty goals. With these oils I perform a relaxing massage over the face, neck, and décolleté. This service is finished off with a peel-off aromatic mask, packed with a blend of essential oils, fig, green tea, passion fruit, and aloe vera extracts, and 1nishing creams best adapted to the client’s beauty goals. The skin is left radiant, hydrated, and refreshed.

Hello beauties, please allow us to introduce Bri The Esthi! Bri, also known as Briyana, is a master esthetician who found her skincare calling while in undergrad at Howard University.

What started as a love and appreciation for the art of makeup, quickly developed into a deep interest and fascination with skincare and skin health. Bri attended Dermal Science International Academy in Reston, VA for her basic and master esthetics training.

Today, Bri enjoys helping clients to allow their true beauty blossom at The Fountains Day Spa. Her favourite services include the Ultra Hydradermie, an 80-minute facial that leaves skin glowing and supple, the Lift Summum, which provides an instant as well as long-lasting firming and smoothing result.

Other then skincare, Bri definitely has a skill set for both Lash and Brow tinting, a service that alters the color of lashes and brows for a bold, defined look, which perfectly pairs with her eyebrow wax.

Guinot Lift Summum

Lift Summum

Guest Blogger: Brianda Velarde

My favorite Guinot facial is our new LIFT SUMMUM treatment. It’s a great facial suited for lacklustre, dehydrated or ageing skin. The LIFT summum facial is an exclusive skincare method that provides global firming action and immediately attenuates signs of fatigue and aging in the face, neck and décolleté. After a 50 minute treatment the face is visibly younger-looking, fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed away & the skin on the face and décolleté is visibly firmer, plumper and lifted. This facial has 2 important key ingredients that give this facial a unique treatment.

Active Ingredients

During the treatment, the precious anti-aging active ingredients directly act on signs of aging :

Mahogany Bark: This ingredient helps stimulate collagen synthesis which improves skin elasticity, tone, and helps counteract slackening.

Alaria Esculenta: This seaweed extract helps to regenerate collagen and elastin fibers while fighting outside aggressors. Aids in the prevention of wrinkles. This is a seriously luxurious experience that leaves you with the skin to prove it.

Secrets Behind The Treatment

STEP ONE – Double Exfoliation: In the first phase of this treatment, papaya extract breaks dead cells away from the skin to facilitate exfoliation. Microparticles of cellulose remove dead skin cells mechanically through friction. Fruit acids accelerate shedding and boost cell renewal.

STEP TWO – Massage: The second phase includes a massage with mahogany bark extract to improve skin elasticity to help counteract slackening, while alaria esculenta seaweed extract helps prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

STEP THREE – Filler/Eraser: The third phase embeds hyaluronic acid spherical fillers into wrinkle grooves. The fillers then rehydrate and inflate to fill the wrinkles.

STEP FOUR – Firming Mask: The fourth and final phase utilizes dynalift and a biotechnological complex to smooth facial features and combat skin slackening by forming a mask that lifts.

Benefits

In one treatment:

  • Exfoliates and removes dead cells
  • Improves skin elasticity
  • Fills and erases wrinkles
  • Fills and erases wrinkles

Guinot HydraPeel Treatment

The Hydra Peeling Treatment

Over the past 50 years, Guinot’s mission has been to help women become more beautiful with exclusive treatments and innovative products.

The Hydra Peeling Treatment is an alternative to aesthetic medicine (without the pain or the hefty price tag). This treatment is a 45 minute facial with 3 steps to ensure and help with the process of ageing, pigmentation and brightening up the skins complexion. It exfoliates, resurfaces, moisturizes and renews the skin leaving it completely re-energized.

How it works:
The Hydra Peeling treatment is done in three steps: (1) Peeling, (2) Hydra Neuve Massage, (3) Mask Hydra Beaute.

STEP ONE – Peeling

STEP ONE – Peeling

As the first phase of this treatment, either the Hydra PH or the Hydrabrasion peeling treatment soaks in for 10 minutes, acting on brown spots and pigmentation, while simultaneously exfoliating.

  • The Hydra PH, designed for all skin types, is made with Biolactone to easily remove dead cells, and Phytic Acid (derived from rice grains) to peel deeply.
  • The Hydrabrasion, designed for sensitive skin, uses natural cellulose particles to eliminate dead cells (allowing new ones to emerge) and papaya extract to break connection between dead cells through enzymatic action.

STEP TWO – Massage

STEP TWO – Massage

The second phase, Hydra Neuve Massage, uses Dermostimulines to help stimulate cellular activity and re-balance PH in the skin.

STEP THREE – Mask

STEP THREE – Mask

The third phase, Mask Hydra Beaute, uses reed extract, poria cocos, and camelina oil to sooth and enhance protection of the skin, while restructuring the skin’s barrier.

Two Versions:

Unlike our other peeling facials (Beaute Neuve) two protocols are available with the Hydra Peeling treatment. Which gives the beauty therapist even greater control over the clients skin, making sure we choose the correct procedure for the skins condition.

HYDRA PEELING with HYDRA PH is a skin-friendly peeling treatment that is recommended for all skin types.

HYDRA PEELING with HYDRABRASION is recommended for sensitive skin.

Hi, my name is Jazmine! I am an enthusiastic massage therapist who’s up for the challenge. I began learning & studying most of my great modalities at American Massage & Bodywork Institute. This particular school appealed to me because, it’s a very family oriented, which is also why I was drawn to Fountains Day Spa

Growing up, I found that I loved making people feel happy! When I was little I always thought I knew what I wanted to be “when I grew up,” but as I became an adult, my paths changed. The one thing that stayed consistent with me as an adult and the four year-old me, was that I still knew I wanted and enjoyed to help people. I began researching professions that would lead me in the direction of making a difference in this world. I came across massage therapy, and found that it was something that I really enjoyed doing. Flash forward to today, I’m working at Fountains, always pouring my passion into ever massage I do, because this is how I’ve chosen to make my impact on the world. Helping people feel their best is what I love about my career and I am so excited to see where this path leads me.

At Fountains, we offer a wide array of treatments, and I enjoy performing all of them, however some treatments are a little more meaningful to me than others. That being said, I love prenatal massages. I understand that all moms, and especially new moms, need that extra care! I know that the precious nine months that mothers’ are carrying can cause a lot of tension, usually in the lower back and hip area. I want to be there for those women to relieve as much tension, pain, and stress any mother-to-be may be experiencing. This treatment is particularly special to me because I hope to add fond memories to the women I see when they look back on their time being pregnant.

Another treatment that I is one of my favorites to give, is our Combination Massage. With this type of massage I can work out majority of the knots you may have, without causing much soreness during or after the massage. I begin my massages very slow and relaxing, this helps warm up the muscle tissue. Once they are warm, I then like to go into the muscles a little deeper. I incorporate stretches throughout my massages, because they help relieve any extra tension is leftover, after working in that specific area.

I am told that I have a very loving & healing touch. Most of my clients are always falling asleep on the table, which I take as a huge compliment. It warms my heart to know that I’m able to get them to their most relaxed state, which that is always my goal. I think of myself as a nurturing therapist who just wants make the world a happier place through massage.

How to Winterize Your Skin

How to Winterize Your Skin

Guest Blogger:
Brianda Velarde

The moment the seasons change from a calm, crisp fall day to the icy cold chill of winter, your skin suffers begins to pay the price. As the temperatures fall in the wintertime and the air becomes drier, your skin will suffer. In chilly weather the skin is less able to protect itself, which can lead to cracks in the outer layer of skin, loss of hydration, and ultimately, inflammation. Here are some tips on how to keep your skin in tip-top shape this season.

#1 Exfoliate Often
Exfoliation is key! It’s important to remove the dead skin on the surface to allow proper product penetration for best results. Scrub away those dead cells for new and radiant skin with Gommage Eclat Parfait. This amazing scrub is soothing and gentle (smells delightful too!). It’s active ingredients are Shea micro-particles to remove dead cells and sweet almond oil for protection of the new skin during the harsh cold weather.

#2 Use a gentle hydrating cleanser
Use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight and dry right after. My favorite cleanser is Hydra Fraîcheur Refreshing Cleansing Milk. This milky gentle cleanser removes impurities and make-up (including waterproof!). Its soothing ingredients aloe Vera and cucumber extract leave your skin calm from any redness and irritation from the cold dry air.

#3 Use toners that don’t have alcohol
I often have clients that come to me with the view that toners are drying. Toners are meant to balance the skins natural PH. If they are drying your skin it’s not the right toner for your skin type. I recommend a toner that does not have alcohol. My favorite toner is Hydra Fraîcheur Refreshing Toning Lotion. It’s active ingredients are ginseng and aloe Vera extract. It softens, alcohol-free, rebalances the skin and prepares it for the application of moisturizer or serum.

#4 Moisturize more!
Let’s face it, hot showers feel the best in the cold winter but they also strip the moisture right out of your skin. It’s important to apply a good moisturizer to help prevent and treat any skin dryness. My to go product is Crème Hydra Beaute. It provides continuous hydration and reduces feelings of tightness, flakiness and softens skin that lacks water.

#5 Always Wear Sunscreen
Did you know? There’s harmful Sun rays hitting the earths surface during winter? Now, you might not get burned because UVB rays (burning rays) are not as strong, but UVA(aging rays) are just as strong strong in the winter as in the summer. My to go sunscreen is Sun Logic SPF 30. This is an advanced anti-aging sunscreen that prepares skin before sun exposure, during and it also repairs afterwards.

Hi everyone! My name is Amy Bono, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the family at The Fountains Day Spa. As a licensed massage therapist (LMT), I specialize in Swedish, Combination and Aromatherapy Massage. I am excited to continue to grow in my modalities. Eventually adding Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Reflexology, and Hot Stone methods to my practice.

I found my true calling, a career that is hands-on and creative. Resulting in clients who are relaxed, refreshed, and healthy. Originally I am from a small town in rural Illinois. I began my professional career as a licensed cosmetologist (CL) in 2005. Over the past 13 years, I’ve worked as a Master Stylist, managing a book of over 200 clientele at salons in Georgia and Kansas. This is before meeting my husband, and starting a new chapter in my life as a military spouse.

Since then, I’ve traveled in search of a new niche. Before moving to Virginia, my husband and I spent three years in Hawaii where the “Aloha Spirit” gave me a new outlook on life.

Ever since, I’ve pursued activities that engage my body and soul. I practice yoga, meditate daily, and love the community of friends at my CrossFit gym. Beyond that, my husband and I – and our two rescue cats – enjoy our nightly walks around the neighborhood, road tripping over long weekends, and exploring all of the history, and activities that Washington, D.C. has to offer.

My work as a massage therapist is another extension of that mindset – my work allows me to engage with clients on a personal level and provide a service that is both a luxury and a necessity!

The Fountains Day Spa is a perfect fit for me. Sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways, but I’m thankful for the opportunity I have now, and am excited for what is to come.
