The moment the seasons change from a calm, crisp fall day to the icy cold chill of winter, your skin suffers begins to pay the price. As the temperatures fall in the wintertime and the air becomes drier, your skin will suffer. In chilly weather the skin is less able to protect itself, which can lead to cracks in the outer layer of skin, loss of hydration, and ultimately, inflammation. Here are some tips on how to keep your skin in tip-top shape this season.
#1 Exfoliate Often
Exfoliation is key! It’s important to remove the dead skin on the surface to allow proper product penetration for best results. Scrub away those dead cells for new and radiant skin with Gommage Eclat Parfait. This amazing scrub is soothing and gentle (smells delightful too!). It’s active ingredients are Shea micro-particles to remove dead cells and sweet almond oil for protection of the new skin during the harsh cold weather.
#2 Use a gentle hydrating cleanser
Use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight and dry right after. My favorite cleanser is Hydra Fraîcheur Refreshing Cleansing Milk. This milky gentle cleanser removes impurities and make-up (including waterproof!). Its soothing ingredients aloe Vera and cucumber extract leave your skin calm from any redness and irritation from the cold dry air.
#3 Use toners that don’t have alcohol
I often have clients that come to me with the view that toners are drying. Toners are meant to balance the skins natural PH. If they are drying your skin it’s not the right toner for your skin type. I recommend a toner that does not have alcohol. My favorite toner is Hydra FraîcheurRefreshing Toning Lotion. It’s active ingredients are ginseng and aloe Vera extract. It softens, alcohol-free, rebalances the skin and prepares it for the application of moisturizer or serum.
#4 Moisturize more!
Let’s face it, hot showers feel the best in the cold winter but they also strip the moisture right out of your skin. It’s important to apply a good moisturizer to help prevent and treat any skin dryness. My to go product is Crème Hydra Beaute. It provides continuous hydration and reduces feelings of tightness, flakiness and softens skin that lacks water.
#5 Always Wear Sunscreen
Did you know? There’s harmful Sun rays hitting the earths surface during winter? Now, you might not get burned because UVB rays (burning rays) are not as strong, but UVA(aging rays) are just as strong strong in the winter as in the summer. My to go sunscreen is Sun Logic SPF 30. This is an advanced anti-aging sunscreen that prepares skin before sun exposure, during and it also repairs afterwards.
